After years in the making, our book, “CONSCIOUS CONSULTING – Consulting with Wisdom, Compassion and Presence in a complex and uncertain world,” was published.
The world is evolving, and so must we: In tomorrow’s landscape, yesterday’s mindsets, tools, and methods won’t sustain us. This applies to leaders, businesses, and especially consulting.
Concepts like Conscious Business, Conscious Leadership, Conscious Business Education, Conscious Entrepreneurship and Conscious Consulting are gaining momentum as vital responses to a world urgently needing responsible, regenerative leadership. It’s clear we can no longer rely on outdated approaches. We must expand and deepen our awareness amid increasingly complex economic, political, social, and environmental challenges.
The rapid surge of AI compels us to reflect deeply: Who are we as human beings? What is our essential potential, and what unique qualities make “being human” truly valuable? What does it mean to be alive? What is consciousness? Can machines or AI possess consciousness? Suddenly, subjects once dismissed as “esoteric” and practices once seen as merely “spiritual,” like meditation, have become vital and are drawing unprecedented attention. We find ourselves increasingly uncertain and confused about the world, about who we are, and about what comes next in this unfolding moment.
How do we navigate an increasingly unknown, uncertain, and overwhelmingly complex world? And how can we consult effectively when we ourselves don’t fully understand what’s unfolding around us?
This is where ancient wisdom traditions come in: they offer invaluable guidance. People back then mastered the art of navigating worlds far more perilous, uncertain, and volatile than ours today. With limited information and constant existential threats, people then relied on their innate human wisdom to survive, adapt, and flourish amid daily hardships.
Being fully present, harnessing the potential in each moment, and pausing amid chaos: traditions such as Buddhism, Taoism, Christian Mysticism, and Hinduism offer profound guidance. They teach us to unlock our innate human strengths, but this requires turning inward—deepening our awareness, expanding our consciousness, aligning with our inner compass, and living with greater intention and presence. Business as usual—being as usual—is no longer sufficient. We must elevate our awareness and responsibility to preserve our agency, sharpen our discernment, and make wise choices for ourselves and those we serve.
Otto Scharmer captured it perfectly: “Form follows consciousness.” Our inner state shapes the results we create.
Conscious Consulting is not a goal in itself but a powerful approach: our true aim is to empower leaders and organizations to thrive while generating positive impact for people, planet, and profit. Profit and purpose are not opposing forces—for businesses or consultants alike.
